Vineyard and winery update

Events

»» Vineyard Update

This has been the coldest, most cloudy winter we can remember for a long time. The grapes were dormant and didnt know but we humans sure noticed. Quite a few of our citrus trees were damaged. Most of the oranges and lemons were lost despite Tom's herculean efforts with heaters and lights and getting up at 3am. It was just too cold for too long.

Needless to say we were very concerned about frost this spring. We pruned the latest in our history - March 23-24 in order to prolong budbreak as long as possible. It seems to have worked. The weather is warming up, the shoots are out and we are off and running for another season!
