The National Women's Wine Competition has awarded a Gold Medal to Capay Valley Vineyards for their 2004 "Cabernet" - a Bordeaux style blend of 30% Cabernet Franc / 70% Cabernet Sauvignon. "Our winemaker, Terri Strain, has chosen just the right combination to enhance the characteristics of both grape varietals" said Tom Frederick, Owner, Capay Valley Vineyards.
"We are please to receive this award from the NWWC - whose judging panel is made up entirely of women wine professionals. Market research has shown that 60-70% of all wine buying decisions are made by women."
Mr. Frederick added that "the growers and wineries of Yolo County are producing world class grapes and wines. We are pleased to focus attention on Yolo County. We thank everyone for their continued support."
